In the shallows she lies
hoping to be seen
just below consciousness
given life in a dream
She speaks from the soul
unfettered by time
by thoughts spun so subtle
to hear them sublime
To inspire is her joy
her love to impart
if only you'd hear
the Muse in your heart
I have been an artist for many years and am always surprised by what appears on the
canvas in front of me. I believe we have an intimate relationship with colour and form
which can affect how we feel. Many people have said how they have felt moved by my
paintings, and that they give them a sense of inner peace and joy.
The world we live in today is often so busy that it is difficult to find the time to appreciate
the more subtle things in life, both within ourselves and our surroundings – a beautiful
smile, an exquisite sunset, the rainbow dewdrops on a spider’s web, the stillness of
early morning; in my paintings, I try to capture the essence of these moments.
My muse has been with me for a as long as I can remember. There have been times when I have ignored her, yet
yearned for her, and times when her presence has been with me like a constant friend. Our connection has at
times been as fragile, and yet as strong, as a spider's web as she has weaved her way through my life on to the
canvas I paint and the canvas of life itself. For me this has been a journey of exploration filled with joy and
sadness, fun and frustration and much, much more as I have danced, run, walked - sometimes with my heels
digging in and dragging - and gradually opened myself to my own creative process.
